Hi all

I have just had 2 koralia 1 powerheads delivered and have just tested them in a ten litre bucket and i have to say i am very surprised by them, i was expecting a really powerful flow that would be chucking water around the bucket, all i have is a very gentle flow that when pointed at the surface only crates small ripples, is this normal, they both work the same so surley they can,t both be defective. Was i just expecting to much?

Thanks

well obviously without seeing what they are producing it's hard to say but we had some of the larger koralia's not so long ago and were very pleased with their output, would certainly have made a big splash in a bucket!

what is the expected lph of the koralia 1's?

1500 lph/ 400 gph

I have got to for my new 400l saltwater tank, i am not sure they will be up to the job, i am really gutted, i think i should have got the bigger ones but i did,nt see them anywhere so did not even consider them.

yes you should certainly be seeing a hell of a splash from two 1500lph powerheads in a 10 litre bucket!!

our experiences with the koralia's were all positive, i would suggest you get in touch with the seller and say you think they are faulty.

I dont no you no! i think they are working ok! i brought the (3) and was expecting to much too! they are doing what its says! just rember its not a jet flow its a wide open flow!!!! stick them in ur tank and watch ur corals move with the flow!!!!

Well, Koralia 1's are designed for smaller tanks, so I'm not too surprised that you're less than impressed with the amount of flow they put out. Remember you should be going for a minimum of 20xtank volume in flowrate, otherwise known as 8000l/hr worth of powerheads. You only have 3000l/hr, biiiig difference. Probably a pair of koralia 3's or 4's is what you should have purchased

Don't forget they will produce a wide flow rather than the narrow luminar flow from older powerheads. Unless I have my hand right in front of my Tunze NanoStreams (4,500 lph) I can barely feel them.

A better test would be to put them on in the bucket and drop some flake food in and see how that gets thrown around.

Yeah they really dont have a direct flow but they do still work well (if not better) then the older style power heads. You will need more though for a bigger tank.

Thanks everyone

I will keep the two i have but i think i be investing in one more much more powerful powerhead proberly the 4, the filter outlet i have gives lots of flow aswell, so with them all working i think i might just be allright.
