Well, my HOB filter with LR rubble is causing salt scale buildup everywhere. Its on the filter, the lighting splash guard...its everywhere. This is causing my SG to swing unless i'm on it every day. Since i have a Rio model 90 in the tank, i figured that the lesser of two evils was to keep the SG stable at the cost of flow.

I'm going to buy another powerhead, but wanted to know what you all thought of the Power Sweep models, the ones with the 180 degree rotating output, to work in conjunction with the Rio 90 or should i stick with a plain stationary output pump? Without a skimmer and without the HOB filter, will i have to worry about lack of oxygen exchange without the HOB breaking up the surface of the water?

sweeps = break :(. You'll want a powerhead near the top of the water to create some ripple. Gas exchange is paramount to keeping stable pH
