Power cuts

Perhaps a silly Question but I like to be prepared...
What do you do in a power cut? How long is it safe for the filter to be switched off?

ur filter can be off for about 1hr but i wouldn't risk it. go to a decent electronics shop and as them for something that u can use as a backup power supply!

Power cuts suck, lukily I haven't had one in a very long time and they usually only last for less than an hour. One of my friends is lucky he has a backup gen for his house.

Worst case you have a mini-cycle coming up and hope you don't have too many really sensitive fish.

August 2003 the eastern coast of Canada and the States had a massive blackout. I was without power for almost a full day. There was nothing I could do... no back up, no lights, nothing. My fish seemed fine. I'm guessing that I had a mini cycle happen again when things got going, but I had no fatalities. Luckily it was summer, and my house stayed relatively warm.

If you have an external filter try to make sure the media keeps wet as this will help the bacteria survive as well
