Hi

I have only been keeping fish for a few month, and was looking into how many more fish i could add to my tank.

It appears that based on the size of my tank (90cmx30x45) that the filter i was advised to buy is inadequate. The filter in question is a Vitakraft Vita Tech 300, what ive found suggests that the max volume of water is around 60 litres, my tank is 108 litres !!!!

Please could someone confirm and advise me please as my guppies have just had quite a few babies, and as these are ,y first i would prefer to keep them alive.

I know i could speak to the shop involved, but i have now lost all faith in them.

Thanks in advance.

I agree it is aimed at a 30-60l tank...oops!

What country are you in? If you're UK Based then

Fluval 3+ would be a good internal
Equally the Fluval U3 would also be good.

If your current filter is an external one, you could supplement it with an internal stick-on/hang-on filter. Interpet do a variety but it depends where you're from.

I dont know that partuicular filter but you caould always buy a stronger filter and sell current one or you could make a DIY sponge filter to run alongside your current one:
You would need an air pump and airline (airstone is optional) aquarium sponge
Cut a hole in sponge and insert airline (with or without airstone) into the hole and voila simple sponge filter
I have one with an airstone cos i have a betta and it was struggling with the flow from the airstone and it makes the flow of bubbles gentler, plus fry cannot get trapped or sucked in.

Thinking about it, if I change my filter to a new brand, how do I go about replacing the bacteria ??? Assuming that the shape of the filter sponge could be different.
