I'd like to put an Oto in my 10 gal and I know they like to be in groups and didn't know if my 10 gal was big enough. I want an algae eater and I know Otos are one of the smallest. I have fluorescent lights and am willing to put in real plants if that would make it easier for them. All this after I'm done cycling my tank of course, I'm just thinking of potential fish I could put in there. Thanks for the advice!

I don't see how that helps me with my question. But thanks anyway.

at a 10 gallon tank most fish are not suitable for smaller tanks. otos should be kept in groups of 5+ also.

Do not get glo fish. They are generally unhealthy because of the genetic modification done to them to produce their unnatural colors.

Having said that, it is my opinion that an oto would not do well in your tank. They do appreciate large groups as well as a fair bit of room. However, if you are looking for an algae eater, depending on the type of algae you have growing, I would recommend a few amano shrimp which I believe eat algae or the lovely nerite snail which will clear up your diatoms (if that is what you've got growing) rather quickly. Plus, they are extremely hardy and there are not many fish which live in ten gallon aquariums who can do them much damage.

Now, for a ten gallon tank, a betta fish would do well, perhaps a honey gourami, peacock gudgeons, smaller killi fish, a few ADF, Endlers, a good size shrimp colony, or any other of the lovely fish mentioned in the nano thread. :D
