Has anyone got a decent link on how to transport fish?I might be getting 2 oscars, but the guy doesn't know how to post them

Thanks :good:

Normally it's best to go the courier route, although you'd need to ask around for couriers that will do fish. It's more expensive but less risky, and not illegal.

Do you mean couriers to send them through, or how to prepare and pack them ready for posting?

If you mean how do. Make sure he doesn't feed them 24 hours prior to posting, as this will reduce waste given off by your fish whilst in transport. Make sure you bag them in 1 part water, 2 parts air. Then you need a cardboard box. When you have that, put polystyrene round the sides, and start packing with newspaper. Then, place the bag(s) in the centre of the box (best to double bag them in case of leaks) and once they are in the box, continue to add more newspaper. Do this until the bags are tightly packed in the box, to stop movement while in transport.

As above but use a polystyrene box suited for tansporting fish, which are generally obtainable from most lfs's.

with Oscars it might not be so much of an issue but when dealing with smaller fish it's also wise to tape up the corners of the bag once they have been part filled with water, this stops the fish getting trapped in the bottom corners/folds of the bag once it's been put into the box.
