Ok so I have been pestering my husband for a few weeks now to let me get yet another tank. Well I found a 20 gallon long tank on craigs list for $25, so will still need to get a hood, filter ect. Anyway, I was laid off a little while ago, and so money is tight, but I still might be able to do this for under $100 if I hit ebay. Currently have no fish in any tanks, so here is my plan:

20 Gallon Long (probably a Aquaclear 50 filter 200 gph - or would I be better to go with 2 AC20s?)

8 Zebra Danio (can I add more if so how many?), 2-3 MTS for sifting sand

5 gallon (AC 20 filter 33-100gph depending on setting)

1 Betta male, 1 MTS for sand sifting (I would move him to the 12 gallon but I know the filter will be way to strong for him and no way to adjust the flow on the marineland filter)

12 Gallon (marineland eclipse 12 system/filter with bio wheel 150gph)
Here is where I am stumped. The only fish I have really wanted was bettas and zebra danio, what can I put in the 12 gallon tank? I know for sure I will have probably 2 MTS for sand sifting, but not sure about fish. I have always liked mollys but not sure if they are ok in the 12 gallon, could I maybe put a couple of mollys with the zebras in the 20 gallon? I have also really liked neon tetras but I know my tanks are too young for them.

Before you buy that 20 long, I have 3 tanks I am trying to get rid of. I have a 28 gallon tank only for $15, a 55 currently cycled with an emporer 400 filter and glass tops for $60 (yep, I'm crazy, I just need to get it gone,) and a 30 gallon tank only for $15. We aren't that far apart and It could save you some cash.

Awesome. Does the 28 or 30 gallon have hoods? I would absloutely LOVE to have the 55 gallon but I just don't have room for it, but I may know someone who would be interested.

Just the tank, heater, and small filter for the 30 gallon. The 28 would be hard to find a hood for since it's not a standard size, but the 30 is a 30 long and easy to find a hood for.

Did a quick search and according to the internet, they sell them at petco with light included. It would probably be cheaper to have someone cut a piece of acrylic for the lid and buy a 36 inch shop light for the light.

that is what I was thinking. Petsmart actually carries the simple hinged plexi lids 36 inch for I thing around $15, but it would be just as easy to get one made.
