I have been trying to breed my kribensis for over a year now they are on batch of eggs number 6.
This time things are different to the other 5 attempts and I have a couple of questions.

1. I'm not sure if the male and female are fighting as the make is on one side of the tank and the female is on the other and when they met the female hit the male in the side then they locked jaws but when this was happening the female was shaking at the male.

2. When the make was on his own I saw him flirting with his reflection and by this I mean he had curled his tail and his breeding colours came up again the reflection of himself on the glass.

And the third and most useful question and answer for me is

3. I see eggs in the coconut caves and they are white and all the other eggs they have had have been an organgey whitish colour and I don't know which colour it should be and also don't know how long the eggs have been in there as she was not due to lay eggs until today.

Thanks for the help and sorry for the long post from Tom

White eggs are infertile and will most likely cause fungus to grow onto the fertile ones. Orange eggs are fertile.

Ok thanks is there any reason why the female is defending the nest so vigorously as she has let the male help her with the eggs for the past 5 batches. Also I thought the eggs turned white when they were turning to wrigglers but I must be wrong and also what should I do with the eggs now that they are infertile will she eat them or should I intervene. I have included a link to a video of my kribensis female attacking my male as I don't know what I should do with him as I'm pretty sure she is bullying him also ignore the voices in the background that's from other family members talking from Tom

It happens. Cichlids can sometimes be tempermental during breeding. I had a female that would lay eggs and not allow the male to fertilize them. Might be the same in your case. You may have a pair that is not compatible.

The thing I don't understand is why she has let him fertilise and care for the eggs on the 5 previous batches but on this batch she has decided to keep him away and not even let him fertilise them from Tom
