I have a female guppy whose tail is generally colorless, there is some orange/yellow at the base.

Anyways, I was examining the fish today while feeding them, and I noticed that the tip of this female's tail is beginning to turn a slight ashy gray coloration.

There is no fuss, and from what I could see the tail seems relatively intact.

However, the two other guppies - espiecally the larger female - has a tendacy of nipping this female's tail.

Is the gray coloration possible ich or a similar problem???

If she is constantly being nipped at then it could be the onset of finrot. Can you seperate her at all from the other fish? If she is being nipped, then it will only get worse. You may need to treat with medication to prevent the tail from getting worse.
What size tank do you have and what other fish are in there?

I have a 5 gal with 2 other guppies, another female who is slightly larger, and a moderately sized male.

Seperating unlikely, as I am only allowed one tank at my apartment - shared with others.

what type of treatment?

Cant you put a partition (Net) in the tank ?

You can get finrot treatments, Interpet and Kingbritish in the UK sell them. Ive never used them so I dont know how good they are.

Dont want to patronise you, but if you do add medication, remove carbon and zeolite filters first as they will remove the medications. But it shouldnt do any harm to the other fish if you cant seperate, but if the others are going to keep nipping her shes going to struggle to get better.

Good luck
