I have a 55 Gallon with 6 Dwarf Neon Rainbows, 4 Silver Dollars, 3 Red Swordtails, and 4 Aeneus Corydoras. Would it be ok to add some more bottom dwellers, or top dwellers, because i know the middle of the tank is totally full. I was thinking about possibly adding 1 Red-Tailed Black Shark, or a few Marbled Hatchetfish.

I think you could get away with one RTB Shark and maybe 3 clown loaches aswell? As long as your filtration is ok and you have control of any algae in the tank it will be fine IMHO.

I think even you could add 1 or 2 more top swimmers as the RTBS tend to be bottom scavangers on the whole anyway when on their own.

hmm, it should be ok as the only bottom dwellers you have are the corys I think you could easily add a RTBS and possibly the clown loaches aswell although I'd rather someone back me up on this before you go out and buy them.

Ben

what kind of filtration do you have on it?

most ppl on here dont go on 'inch per gal' rule..

what are your water parims like?

whats your water change routine like?

atm you have 16 fish (if my maths is correct.)

the silver dollors are going to get biggish arnt they? (wouldnt know never kept them)

id say you could possibly get away with a shark... :shifty:

but only if your parims are ok, and ur water changes are kept on top an ur filter can handle the extra amount of waste

My Red Tailed Black Shark doesnt attack or chase anything in my 50G tank. It has tankmates ranging from catfish to tetras. It just swims around happily scavanging off the plants and rocks and hanging out with my Clown Loaches.

It is one chilled fish thats for sure :)

I would not add clown loaches to that tank (depending on any upgrade plans) because you already have 4 large schooling fish in there and although they occupy different areas, I think it's too much for that size of tank.

Maybe think of a smaller, schooling loach perhaps like a chain or yo yo loach group. You could also get away with a group of marbelled hatchet because they are small and occupy a very spevific area. Silvers might be a different matter though.

:)

hey guys, this is my tank levels as of today, August 4th!

Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 0

Pretty amazing huh? I have 2 filters, a top fin (for up to 60 gallons) and an Aquaclear300. My tank levels are so perfect, i really want to add more. do you think a shark would be ok? if i could the clown loaches would be even better, and i have lots of room on the bottom, (only 4 corys that will only grow to 3" long). Also, the very top of the tank is never occupied also. I think the marbled hatchets are really cool, so i was thinking about a few of them (since they stay on the surface of the tank continually.

thanks for your opinions and help so far, its been greatly appreciated. :)

 Wow, 0 Nitrate!? I'm lucky if I get my Nitrate to stay under 15-20 range!

I agree with Cheese, stay away from clown loaches, but go ahead with the hatchets and RTBS. You've got room. ;)
