Hello Folks hope your all well,

i Have a 18 ish USG (maybe abit more maybe a bit less with small sump) Marine set up and currently there is just 2 Purple Firefish and 2 Cleaner shrimp (plus an assortment of hermit and Snails) which must be coming up to 7-8 months old I noticed this morning that one of my Firefish has a white "mark" on its eye, i think it maybe an Eye fluke or similar, actually i just looked at it and it looks like possible old deadskin thats died off and alittle hole in the eye ...yeh i really need a picture.
The actual iris itself is not cloudy and the fish is swimming fine, i havnet noticed any sort of flicking or scratching activity from the fish, nothing has been addded to the tank for months because my dad made me promise him until after my A2 exams (which finish in 8 days w00t).
Wondering if i should get some medication for it. antibaterial? anti-worm/fluke?or leave it and see how it goes(i cant do anything till tomorrow afternoon at the earliest anyhow), if i do get something it need it to be Reef Safe and invertibrate safe (although if it killed some bristleworms here and there i wouldnt mind.)
Im also going to start dosing Vit C as soon as i can source some pure, see the thread on Reef central origionally used to help heal and premote growth in Zoanthids (which was my intial reason, as i rescued my Radioactive dragon eye frag) it also seems to benifiet Fish by boosting immune systems and is slightly anti bacterial if i remember rightly >READ THE WHOLE THREAD FROM START TO FINISH TO SEE THE PRO'S AND CON'S<

ill try and get my Dad's Nikon D40x and take some shots of it as my olympus compact cant get the quality images i need.
What do you guys think?

Best regards
Luke

Unless you see spreading of it, I'd just treat with something like melafix or primafix to help the fish heal itself a little faster. Who knows, maybe it just ran into a rock a little too hard and cut itself...

So just go for an anti bacterial then? thats great ill look out for melafix or primafix, are those readily avalable in the uK?

Yes, Melafix and Primafix are very common just about anywhere and cheap too ;)

Laugh i went to my only real local and they have very limited supply of med's the only thing that sounded remotely usefully was ICH-attack,
i know it itsn't ICh, but it also treats Fungus,Protozoans and Dinoflagellates, so hopefully it has "some" sterilising properties and hopefully stop any secondary fungal issues, plus its 100% organic and suitable for Invert/reef tanks and at £4 its not going to break the bank, im just checking on ebay for a few meds seeingas i dont have a marine "medication set" what things should i have?

>Anti Ich (ich attacK)
>anti baterical (melafix or primafix)
>coral dip of soem sort

whats what iodine stuff i hear about Loigies iodine or soemthing, isnt that a bit of a general cure all for coral and fish?

anything else?

Edit:-Thanks SkiFletch =]

Iodine dips, aka Lugols solution, aka Tropic Marine Pro Coral Cure (TMPCC) can SOMETIMES be used to treat coral infections but it rarely works for this purpose. Iodine dips are however useful for killing unwanted soft-bodied invertebrates like zoanthid eating nudibranchs and many others, and should be used when bringing in new corals to the ecosystem.
