Im not sure what i should do.

Just noticed my male platy's scales are sticking out suggesting dropsy there arent as bad as the pics ive seen but its still noticeable, he is eating ok and swimming fine chasing the females still.

I havent got a spare heater so first thing tomorrow i will get one and put him in another tank

How should i treat him?

I thought about just using salt

Do you mean scales sticking out.

it is extrwamly rare to save a fish that has dropsy.
IMHO euthinasia is the kindest thing you can do.

Thanks wolf, i expect that i was i will have to do

This mornign the scales are still sticking out but he is buzzing about as usual so its a little strange.

As he is so full of life i will give him a chance in a hospital tank, im going to move him there him a barebottom tank and some java moss for cover, i wont feed him for upto a week incase its digestive problems and use epsom salt at the dosage of a tablespoon per 10 gallon as recomendded at the krib website.
