I have a 3.2gall bowl waiting for the media to cycle. I was offered a tank which would be fab to separate for a few bettas or to keep females in, but I'm not allowed to have it at home 
so it's going to work for one of the teacher's axolotls.
But, that does free up their current tank It's 6 gallons (45x25x20cm) The big new tank has a heater which the axolotls don't need. I haven't checked the wattage but it has a thermostat so am I right in thinking that even if it's higher wattage than the small tank would need it will be OK as it will switch off?
There's also an aerator which is whisper brand. Could I make a sponge filter with that? It's just a box with a tube with an airstone on the end.
It has no light, but has one of those standard clearseal black plastic lids. Can you get lights for those?
And would that tank be big enough to have some corys too?
