Hi

I posted the content below in the begginers forum as stricktly speaking it was not an emurgency, but I am now concerned if I do not apply the correct treatment soon I could lose my Angel.

In addition to the details below, the fine white hairs protruding from his eye are getting longer, which makes me think his eye did not explode, but maybe he has now got some sort of fungus, if this is correct, what should I treat it with, baring in mind he is still in my quarantine tank being treated with Melafix?

I have an Angel that had pop eye, this may have been self inflicted as I done a 70% water change and I later discovered that pop eye can be caused by a new setup or massive water change as this can cause has very high nitrogen levels.
The advice I read if this is the case is leave it for a few days as it might go away.
Anyway, it did not so I put him in my new Quarantine tank with 40 Litres of water and I have been treating him with 5ml of Melafix for the last 5 days.
The Pop eye has gone, but his eye looks bloodshot and I have discovered today what looks like very fine white hairs protruding from his eye about 5mm. Is this a fungus or did his eye explode?

I'm not sure what to do from here, should I continue the treatment in the Quarantine tank or put him back in the main tank?
My concern with leaving him in the quarantine tank is it only has natural light and no filtration, so leaving him in thier for to long could build up ammonia levels etc, although I'm not sure how long it would take for this to happen in 40 litres?

Thanks
Michael

Anti internal bacteria med by interpet and pimafix.
Are they strands of fungus on the eye, and not a parasite.

Shouldn't mix parasite meds with bacterial, only in issolation.
You need a bacterial med and pimafix.
Or methylene blue if you have it with a bacterial med.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused.

Should I take my Angel out of my quarantine tank, empty and clean it, refill with tank water and add Pimafix ?

Thanks
Michael

What med is in the quarantine tank at the moment, if nothing just a little water change then add the meds.
Alot of aeration.

I had been using Melafix for 6 days to treat the Pop eye, but that appears to be gone and replaced by the fungus which is still growing.

Last night I put my Angel in a bag, emptied my quarantine tank, cleaned it, and filled with tank water.
I put my Angel back in and have treated with Protozin. Am I on the right lines?

I know you recommended Pimafix, is this the same as Protozin, is one better than the other?

Your comment about a lot of aeration, I've posted another question in "Equipment & DIY" about whether I should have an Air stone/Air Curtain of filter, or even both in my quarantine tank. I would be grateful if you you post your comments in the "Equipment & DIY" forum.

Thanks
Michael

Should be ok that med it's meant to treat fungus, add some melafix with it as well.
Only need a airstone or curtain don't need both.
