It has been filter/tank cleaning morning and the in [to the tank] pipe was slightly leaking at the top after i'd faffed about putting the lid back on which must have worked the pipe slightly loose, so i tightened the black screw bit upwards a bit more now it's slightly at the bottom. i've had to turn the power off because it's enough to cause problems. what can i do? i don't even remember which way tightens it and which way loosens it and i can't do too much with it to find out because the pipe is full of water.

While the filters off, turn the taps above the screw connectors so that no water can get out of the pipes. Best bet then is to disconnect the pipes over a bucket and figure out which way they fasten etc. Sounds like you might need to re-connect your hoses to make sure they're all on correctly. It may also be worth snipping a few cm off the end of the hoses incase they have gotten knarled up. Fresh start and all :)

Sounds like a pig of a job, I have about 3mm of working space in my cupboard lol. Also the pipe was actually leaking whilst the taps were OFF, how do u explain that :/

Sounds like your hose has come away from the plastic pipe. If so, it doesn't matter how tightly you do the screw up, it'll still leak. You need to unscrew it completely and make sure it's connected properly (hose goes couple of cm over pipe) then re-tighten the screw.

Well the ####ing thing leaked all over my carpet, all over my plugs and all over me. I did re-thread it but haven't tested it yet for fear of electrocuting myself.
