i have a poorly ram! i noticed it facing head down lastnight but didn't think much of it and thought it may have just eaten too much.
this morning i noticed it sticking to the bottom of the tank and it looked like it was struggling to get off the bottom.
i also saw a little red mark around the anal area as though it had been bite or something, maybe something internel thats not meant to be on the outside?
i have no idea whats wrong with it.
there is a black ghost knife in the same tank but there are fish smaller than the ram, ottos, hillstream loach.
here is the little fella;

Sounds like a swim bladder with the headstanding and struggling to get off the bottom of the tank.
The anus can go red with dropsy but also internal parasites.
Is the fish bloated or skinny looking.
What colour is the poo when the fish goes to the toilet.

Poor little thing... he looks so sad :(

I'm sorry I can't offer any advice, but I hope he pulls through!!

:sad: when i got in from college, he was swimming around uncontrolably upside down n all sorts so it's definatly a swim bladder thing, but, what could have caused it? i bought him on friday and he was eating straight away and seemed to show more colour than the female.

Bless him he's not going to make it swimming upside down they do that when they are dying.
The lfs could of damaged him while trying to catch him with the net.
