Poorly Platy

The black pads are usually black carbon.
Left you a link to the internal parasite med you can buy it online, not all lfs carry it.
Melafix and pimafix are not that good in my opinion there really overated and expensive to buy.
Melafix is only good on cuts and wounds and thats about it.
Pimfaix is only good for using with a bacterial med for columnaris in the uk.

Hi Wilder and Laura

I just wanted to give you an update. I have ordered some Sera Nematol but it has not arrived yet (these fish are costing me a fortune!!) Anyway I treated the tank with just Melafix the other day. I thought it couldn't harm to try it whilst I was waiting for the parasite meds.

Anyway, my platy is looking much much better. Her belly has filled out and she is looking really perky. Her spine is still curved though, so I know she isn't right but she doesn't seem to be suffering. I think she is bored. My hospital tank is completely empty, just a filter and a heater, no gravel, plants anything. Do you think I should put something in there for her?

I haven't treated my maint tank with anything. All the fish seem fine and dandy. Apart from a small mishap (I am opening another thread for that). When my expensive parasite treatment arrives I will treat them though, best to be safe than sorry.

Anyway, thank you very much for the advise. It is hugely appreciated.

Cindy x

I put a ornament and plants in a hospital tank as I find fish are stressed with no hiding places even if they don't hide.
They seem to like reassurance that there just in case.
Bless her glad she seem abit better.
If she not suffering just let her live her life out.
