Hi bonking

I am afraid I think your DG is suffering from dwarf gourami disease. This was made aware to me by another member in a thread after one of mine (now 2) went the same way and there isn't a lot you can do. It is caused, from my understanding, by the DG's being continually inbred, I assume to produce the varying colours. I assume over time this has produced very week fish that seem to just die (happy for another member to correct me on this).

I have a male left in the tank who seems OK at the moment, but I am just counting down the day till he goes.

I won't be buying anymore DG's as although they are good looking fish, especially the males, they just don't last and it's certainly no fun watching them die while every other fish is perfectly ok.

If he is suffering, the only suggestion I have is euthanasia, although I have never done this myself.

Good luck

Al

Ps, I didn't mean to call you bonking!!!! Bloody iPhone changing from bmonki!!!

thanks for the reply... does this video help? could it be swim bladder?

It could well be swim bladder and your fish certainly has some characteristics. DG's have continuously been inbred and swim bladder is one of the genetic malfunctions of this, so it could be a bit of both.

I am not really aware of any cure for DG disease or swim bladder, so be prepared, I am afraid your fish may die. I have had 2 go the same way and looking at your video, your fish shows the same characteristics mine did.

Really sorry, I hope he recovers
