Poorly Gourami

Meds can knock water stats.
Just add the correct amount of med back to water removed.

Ok, i cleaned my water over the space of a day and started to treat with pimafix.

Im not sure what i should be treating for. Columnaris is apprently high contagious, yet the other gourami in the QT has no signs of anything wrong. No white spots or anything. The one that isnt well has like white patches and spots, raised maybe 1mm-2mm, not fluffy, just on the body and fins, not on the mouth.

What do you think i should do?

How long have you been using the esha exit for.

Whitespot will look like grains of salt on fins, but they can form a patch when the spots join up.

Any redness to the spot.
Do the spots look like a cluster of eggs.

They look like about 20-30 white spots together, they are not raised that much and are not fluffy. Its just like clumps, on the fins too. It musnt be contagious because the other fish is 100% healthy . . .No redness to the spots. Just white clumps, not raised maybe 1-2mm.

Do the spots look like a cluster of eggs, or a cauliflower.
As growths on fins can by lymthocystis.

A pic might help.

I would take a pic but i never get him still. Can i take him out and handle him and take a pic? I dont think eggs becuase its just white like cottom wool, but not cottony; its not fluffy.

Im not explaining this very well :( would do with posting a picture if i could handle him.

Get a container and fill it up with tank water. Then place the fish in the container.
Try and not keep him in the container long, as we don't want the temp to drop.
Then try and take some pics of him.

what about popping him on a piece of paper for 1 minute and taking pictures? Apparently they can breath out of water.

It's up to you but I think the container would be less stressful on the fish.

ill go for the piece of paper. itll be quicker and over with and atleast have a good picture. will post it up in about and hour once back from work. Thank you again.

okay well i popped him out of the water for 20 secs to have a look at him and nothing would have shown up on the camera- only visable really in the water. He looks to have improved some of the patches from the body have gone and the fins are just a few white spots an white clumpy bits. Will pimafix cure whitespot too? Maybe use pimafix and interpet whitespot?

Danny
PS: they just having pimafix at the minute.

No. Pimafix won't treat whitespot, but you can use it with parasite meds.

Try half dose of the whitespot med for now.

You will have to remove the esha exit first with a water change and black carbon.

So what do you think i should use? ill run through the meds i have:

Pimafix
ESHA exit
ESHA 2000
Interpet anti whitespot treatment
Interpet andti fungus and fin rot

Sorry got confused last night as I was tired.

Add some pimafix with the esha exit.

lol no worries.

The thing im not getting is that this disease must not be contagious, the other fish which has been isolated with him for 2 weeks now shows no sign of anything wrong and is swimming around quite happily.

However in the main tank, another gourami has started showing the same symptoms as the poorly one in quarantine. So im tempted to put the 100% healthy one from quarantine back into my main tank and the poorly one from the main tank into the QT. It is starting to clear up on the one in the QT tank currently, but i just cant understand why the other fish with him has absolutely nothing wrong with him :/
