Hope someone can identify this. My white, female Molly has a red sore on her side and I really don't know what it is or what to do about it.

I have attached an image.

Unfortunately my Molly died this morning, but I would still like to know what was wrong with her and if I need to do anything to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks :good:

Firstly, I'm sorry she's died.. She looks gorgeous!
I have one simular, But she hasn't got the sore patch your fish had.

What are your water tests coming back as?

I am thinking something like 'fin rot' or some kind of infection / disease..?
I could very well be wrong though, I am just a beginner myself!

I'm sure someone will be along to help soon.. in the mean time I suggest if you haven't already do a partial water change and perhaps some medicines / tonics / aquarium salt to help...

How many other fish do you have, and are they showing any simular signs?
Was she swimming differently to the other fish?

Hi :)

We haven't done a water test yet, we are going to take one to the shop this weekend hopefully.

She gave birth to about 20 fish two days ago, then the day after she got the red mark on her, then died the next day  None of the other fish are showing any signs of this. She was fine, she was swimming normally and eating fine. I just hope that none of the other fish get it now

Thanks for your reply :good:
