my family and I visited the lfs yesterday, and saw a betta looking not well. He played on my conscience so much I bought a gallon small tank which I would use as a hospital tank until he was well
went back to shop today, and he was swimming well. So I bought him. He's a ice blue with red crowntail...very pretty, and very young. He's not looking too well again now, I am hoping its just stress from the move, I have placed a heater and floating cambodia it. Should I try and put an airstone in too...or will that just stress him out as well?
I have also taken apart the 64L tank, and used the filter sponges from the filter and laid them in the tank with him, as they were beginning to process ammonia.

He sounds very pretty! Pics? :D
What do you think is wrong with him? If you knew maybe you could start to build up a sort of list of what you need to treat him with? :good:

If you need a filter, you can make a small sponge filter, but I'm unsure of how. Hopefully someone will come along and be able to give you instructions :good:

here he is, he looks like he could be a marble crowntail

I have put two sponges from the orther filter in with him, they are floating at the surface

Another Betta will take his place, it's always best to leave them, I know it's heartless but if there is demand they will supply.

He is now lying on the bottom of his 1 gallon tank, and occassionally comes to the top for air. not sure whats wrong with him. I think I see stress stripes, but i dont know ( they are on the last pic of him...) anuone got any ideas?

I now how they play on your minds, Buster did the same, he has a swim bladder problem and always sinks so lives in a shallow tank for now but he's getting better :)

Hows your guys swimming? does he seem off balance or wobbly at all?

he is staying pretty still at the bottom of the tank. when he swims to the top foe air hes a little wobbly. but not too bad. hes able to turn 180 degrees too, so maybe not swim bladder. there aren't any other symptoms that I can see

I have managed to make his surroundings a little comfier. since these pics were taken, made a airstone sponge filter too

there were two bettas in community tanks at my lfs on saturaday and they were so fin nipped it was awful, i was nearly in tears - i couldnt take them as i have no where to put them and i just have to keep reminding myself that as long as they are there no other bettas will be brought in to have to suffer! this is a well known place as well!

initials MA? same here

Ice is looking a little more livley today, still pretty still most of the time, but he has eaten, and has been oving round much more than yesterday

No WW well known place in the North West - poor lil fishies!

Glad your new boy is doing better!

well, he certainly isnt doing better. he seems to have difficulty keeping his position in the tank, and i've realised he has a slimey appearance. his fins seem glued together, until he swims and can flare them , especially his dorsal fin, his left pectoral doesnt seem to be being used...there is no reddness to his scales, gills, mouth or anywhere else where he shouldnt have it, he seems paler today too....any suggestions?
