My male dwarf Gourami (powder blue) is acting very strange. No appetite recently and has been sitting on the bottom of the tank under plants. He was fine a few days ago, but recently has been depressed. He looks in good condition, nothing unusual about his appearance. Today when I got home from work though, he is laying in the sand against a rock, yet still looks like he is trying to swim? His fins are all moving but he is not. There are no sores on his body or strange looking scales (dwarf gourami syndrome) but he is clearly ill. I just read the thread on the dwarf gourami syndrome and I do suspect it since he has had loss of appetite and lethargy. Is there anything I can do to save him? Can he pass this sickness on to my other fish? I also have a female Opaline Gourami that I do not want to get sick
What can I do
