Please advise me on what has happened to my Dwarf Gourami which has just died. The attached picture isn't nice viewing but shows the problem. In just a few days he detoriated - after I noticed a scab-like protrusion which kept growing and ended up as a puffy, reddened mass. I do regular water changes and the test results are all ok. I didn't know how to treat it and was hoping it might just be a wound, until today. I have another Dwarf Gourami who looks like he might be getting it - theres a tiny protrusion on his side. can he be saved?? please help

Looks like it could be an ulcer or some sort. How long has it been like that before he died. Try getting some different medications from a lps. Couldnt quite tell you the best because they have so many for the same diseases. Anyone would help at this point.

Mine died after getting a type of ulcer on his side. I tried Melafix and Myxazin, as well as lots of water changes inbetween medication, but nothing worked. His problem was more of a sore protrusion, like a red lump.

One lfs told me to net him and put a drop of medication on the infection, I even tried that. Not nice watching a fish slowly die without being able to help.

I'll definitely go out and buy some kind of treatment to see if i can save the remaining gourami, but i don't know what exactly to buy . the picture shows how it looked at the end but it spent a few days looking like a wound, which protruded a bit, with a brown-ish cover, like a scab. my surviving one has now got the same thing growing out of his side.
