I always thought my local fish store took good care of their fish, recently, however they have started selling the smallest betta boxes i have ever seen. Yesterday I went in to get some more stock for my main tank and they had a betta on the desk in one of these boxes with a sign stuck to it:

£25 for...
Betta fish
2 moss balls
Betta box
Food
Flourecent pebbles

I felt so sorry for him i am tempted to go back and but him :( he didnt move at all :(

This is the box

All of those betta specific death traps are horrible, I just wish there was something that could be done to get them off the market, but unfortunately I think they'll always be out there, I think that educating the public away from those types of tanks is the only way to stop them from being used.

I bought the sed betta and he is now living with four endler guppies in my 5 gallon tank

I sure wish these animal protection societies would do something about this stuff for the Betta. It's just wrong to promote keeping these bettas in tiny cups or whatever. How would they like to be stuck in a room so small their head and their butts are constantly against the walls. It's really pitiful for these beautiful magnificant Bettas that have such loving personalities. I even hate that many of them die in the little cups in the stores before they ever get a chance to swim and experience real life. Darn shame!

I agree with whisper. These beautiful fish need to be advertised beautifully, not in a cup! sadly, thats how how i bought mine, but hes all happy now.
