Pond water products..

A friend of mine has a pond with koi fish and mentioned a product I should try in my freshwater aquarium. It’s a powder that adds beneficial bacteria to your water. Can pond products even be used in freshwater aquariums?

Since most ponds are freshwater ponds, yes pond products can be used in freshwater tanks, both tropical and cold water. The main problem is getting the dosage right - pond products tend to be more concentrated to treat much larger volumes of water.

Do you want to use this pond product to set up a new tank? It would be easier to use use a product made for tanks just because they are easier to dose. But unless you are cycling a tank, you don't need to add beneficial bacteria as a cycled tank already has them.
