Pond plant identification?

Hi ,

Can anyone identify this pond plant for me . I went to pick some up and asked if they had any floating plants in they said not really but I throw a few of these bunches in . I have no idea what they are if I should plant them on leave then free . Very new to ponds so any help is greatly received.

Myriophyllum? Would be an easier ID in water.
