Ok, so they make fish ponds out of fibreglass/polyester resin/gelcoat.

Does anyone know (and I mean know, not think ;) ) if you could use polyester gelcoat to cover things as a base glue....ie gravel on plastic ornaments?

If ok then how long before putting in the tank?

I know you can use aqua-safe silicone (as I have done) but it is too darn expensive to use big scale and I have free supply of poly resin :hey:

Other suggestions welcomed

Poyester resin is safe, its' used at my place of work for the RO vats.....We leave it 72 hours, but if possible, leave a week to garrentee it's set. We wouldn't use it if unsafe, as it would kill any fish that went into our RO water. Be aware that there may be different grades like with silicone, one general propose, one aquarium. Something that needs researching me thinks, because the stuff we use states that it is fish safe :good:

Thanks for that. Our resin is just a general purpose, low styrene version.

I was only thinking of using the gelcoat but i am not too sure whether it's worth taking the risk........
