Plotting A Betta Rescue Extravaganza

So far, I still think a tough love carefront is worth the effort. Even if she doesn't get it this time it may lay a foundation. BTW, part of that is being willing to possibly stay away from future involvement until the person resolves or begins to resolve the issues.

The only thing I can suggest is to say that you've been after one of finnage and colouration of this betta to breed for ages and really put on the "I really really want it" mode.

Then possibly offfer her money for it just to get her going. I know it's not right and it's ur hard earned money, plus she's gaining from it, but it's the fish's quality of life we are talking about here!

Gee

I was basically joking about he stealing thing, not only would i never have the guts to do this, but I have no car. :shifty:

The caresheet idea is a good one, I will definitely put that into consideration.

In the middle of the night break a window.. take fishie =)

hahaha carefront hahaha

Gee's idea might work. Problem is she would just get another one. It wouldn't solve the problem.

I would send the person on the around the world trip and while the person is not at home go over there and take all the fish they have and when they come back say that you were home the whole time and somebody must have broken in. :shifty:

lol, the burglar left all of the jewelry and money, but didn't hesitate to take a sick betta...

im with the "i really really want it" tactic. Tell her you've been looking for one like it forever....where is she located? Im part of a dog rescue....I might be able to help you figure out what the laws say in your place of residence...or i can find you someone who can :)

a one to one appraoch is needed, if a group of people confronted me i would tell them to get lost, be kind and gentle but whacker her with "over the top" info on how bettas need to be looked after, make it sound like the biggest chore and commitment that is on this earth, this will hopefully put her off keeping him and you could end up with him for keeps, sounds like you may have to report her about the other animals though, i did for someone who left a puppy on its own for 10 hours a day and left it screaming, the RSPCA and myself didnt know at the time it was locked in the toilet i just thought it was locked in the house all this time and they went in with a court order and removed him. their house is mega clean and he was well and healthy but stressed and this was enough to get him moved, the RSPCA taken into account anything that could cause illness, illness doesnt have to be apparent, they are primarliy there to stop things happening not just go when its already happened. :good: the RSPCA also attend complaints about fish.

I totally know what you are going through! When I was in high school I use to breed rabbits for show, and a friend of mine was a huge copy cat and decided she wanted to breed rabbits for show, so she got some rabbits, didn't know a thing about how to properly care for said rabbits, and it was sad!

I would go over to her house and they would have old stale food and no water or hay!!! I'd get mad and say, why don't they have water and it was always the same story "oh they must have just ran out" So I'd give them water and they'd act like they hadn't had any for days!

Sadly a dog got into her yard and killed them all, but luckily she decided not to get more.

i'd offer to buy the betta from her and see if she is willing to give it up, if not turn her in for animal cruelty. That's what I should have done for my friends poor bunnies.

This has to be one of the better bumps in a while. 2005 is distant memories for me :p
