I've got a few small pieces of plexiglas that I am thinking of making into fake plant bases and hiding under the gravel. would this be safe for use in my tank so that I can make use of some clippings I had made off some larger plants that i have.

It should be alright as some tanks are made from it. Acrylic is just a commercial name for plexiglass. Most plastics are safe. People often use pvc for breeding caves. Just make sure you clean the plexiglass to remove the dust.

Ok sounds good to me. As I said, I don't want to waste the trimmings as they would make good frontal or even cover plants. Thanks
