 HI IVE GOT A MALE FIGHTER AND EVER SINCE IVE GOT HES BEEN EATING CATFISH PELLETS AND HE HAS BEEN GETTING FATTER AND FATTER AND DOESN'T EXCRETE. HE JUST GLIDES ALONG AND BREATHES VERY SLOWLY IS THIS A PROBLEM? -_- :fish:

 I don't know if that's a problem but don't feed the catfish until you find out, it can live without food for a few days.

he sounds constipated or bloated. get a frozen pea. put it in the microwave to get it soft remove the skin. mush some into the size of a betta pellet. give it to him the way that seems easiest

Ctafish pelets are not designed for bettas but for catfish, hence the name, they don't contain the right nutritional requirements for bettas and yours is most likely constipated from eating too many- feed him some cooked de-shelled peas as before mentioned and it should clear up his digestive system, but try to feed him more betta suited foods and not catfish pelets in the future to help avoid this from happening again :nod

Also, do not feed him until the bloat goes away. Feed him half of a pea, and then do not feed anything else for a few days until he seems to return to normal. If you look at him from above, are his scales sticking out like a pine cone? If so, it is dropsy and you need to take action QUICKLY.

HI ITS PLECO KID IVE TRIED THE PEA MATHOD AND IVE PUT IN SOME MEDICINE FOR CONSTIPATION AND HE STILL HASN'T EXCRETED YET, IVE MADE SURE HE ATE THE PEA BY PLACING HIM IN A BREEDING TRAPAND HE HAS ATE IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS

They don't poop immediately after being fed a pea. It takes a little bit of time. It's not a laxative as we know them (a drug that acts almost immediately). It's fiber, and has to work it's way through the system a bit. Give it a little time.

Catfish pellets are entirely wrong for Bettas. They are carnivores, and need meaty foods, or at least pellets designed for them, so that they can have enough protein to survive. Please get him some of those, or you'll just have recurring problems, and end up with a sick or dead Betta.

Hi plecokid again this morning i went down to turn the light on and my fighter was pooping! :D his breathing rate is normal again :band:
