I'm just wondering about these fish. They seem interesting and I'm wondering would one be happy on his/her own, what type etc. I'll have 3 platys, 1 molly and 3 corys along with it. :good:

plecostomus is a name for over 1000 species, so generally a good idea to be a bit more specific.

pitbull plecs get to a couple of inches
Bristlenose get to around 5"
Gold nuggets to about 8"
Commons to around 18"
Gibbiceps to 24"
Adonis to 36"

That's very helpful Davo, thanks. Would all of these be happy enough alone?

In the main yes they are best kept singularly unless you are wanting to breed them, the few exceptions would be pitbulls and other smaller species like clowns,

Plecs are quite happy to live solo but as Davo86 has alreay stated, some do get huge.

How big is your tank & what other fish do you have in it?

:good: I might look into a Bristlenose or Goldnugget. I take it they're not aggressive.

Plecs are mostly nocturnal so once settled you hardly ever see them.

Tom I have a 10 gal but upgrading soon.

Ok, but please get a bigger tank before introducing fish with the aim of upgrading in the future as this doesnt always play out the way we imagine.

Upgrade 1st - Fish 2nd
