At my LFS all our freshwater fish are kept in normal tapwater aounr pH 8, bar discus, cardinals, chocolate gouramies and the like.
Im thinking of getting a golden nugget which is kept in the pH 8 water. I didnt have a lot of luck with my clown pleco(kept in pH 8 ) or the leopard frog pleco, whihc was kept in low pH but i introduced it well by adding water to its bag for an hour. The clown died from a lack of o2 as i was treating for whitespot at the time and the same with the frog plec...both the o2 levels being low and a pH shock.
So...should i get the plec? They look great and so vibrant :D

Cool. But aren't you suppose to filter the water first before putting fish in?
