Pleco With Bredding Convicts?

Its not an insult to his mother its basically saying that I bet his mother never taught him or her to use that kind of language and that if she read what he or she had wrote she would not be too happy about it !!

BTW Pimp, sorry can't help you on your subject but felt I had to say something earlier, you didn't deserve that abuse.

No offense taken. :good:

i have my pleco with 2 cons in a 55 gal. when they breed will the pleco be able to avoid the onslaught? he is basically unnoticed by the fish right now and goes into all their terrioties un harmed

i didnt read on so i dont know if this has already been said but your pleco should be fine with the convicts. my bristlenoses are so i cant see the pleco being harassed by the convicts. however, that tank is too small for a pleco. they need a huuge tank

my 55gal? too small? and the convicts are/will be breeding.....

yes, it is unfortunately. a full grown pleco would need i think its 120 gallons or something like that. someone else might be able to tell you exactly.

doesnt matter with the convicts. the plecos have natural defense and they will get left alone by the convicts. i have a bristlenose breeding pair in with convict breeding pair and the convicts dont even seem to notice their presence and certainly wouldnt be able to hurt them. i offered a small dead one once to a convict and it still wouldnt eat it. i think they instinctively know its probably not best to pick on or eat plecos

thank you

are you sure the pleco will outgrow the tank??? inkow they get big

i forgot if its a common plec.. hes the all black

i have 1 in my 6' display tank at work and he is about 1' long. ive even been considering putting him in the 8' display. he still has growing to do. at the size he will end up, having him in that tank would be like a human living in a bathroom. youc ould get by and live in something that small, but you would never be happy. and, if the tank is too small, growth gets stunted meaning earlier death than a plec provided with a large enough tank.
about 1.5 inch.. same with cons
i only just read this part...are you sure the pleco is only 1.5"?? i didnt even realise they would sell them that small. can you show us a pic?

if the tank is too small, growth gets stunted

This is incorrect. It is, to the detrement of many fish, a commonly believed myth.

Still, dont do it because, although growth wont be stunted, it will probably just die.
