I just bought a pretty decent size pleco for the 55 Gal. tank that I have right now. I'm wondering if there's anything I can / should do to bolster his diet. Within the first 24 hours or so of being introduced to my tank, he pretty much cleaned off the glass, the wiring and parts of the filter. Now he just sorta sits there on the bottom playing dead. Every now and then he'll swim up to the glass and go around in circles looking like he's checking to see if there's any food or not. Do I need to worry and get him some dietary supplements or just assume he's gonna get enough to eat. Thanks for any help guys.

If it looks like he's not getting enough to eat, I would go pick up some algae wafers if I were you. Good luck with him :good:

He's going to starve. Get him some algae wafers and zucchini or whatever your folks call it. It is assumed since he is cleaning up the algae that he is an herbavore. But make sure what he is so you know for sure what his needs are, as lilfishie said.

You could feed Spirulina wafers, regular tropical fish food, algae wafers, zucchini, cucumber, carrot. Some plecos require wood for their diet. Such as bog wood. Also they will eat live plants sometimes, and also lettuce.
