dad's currently setting up a maliwi cichlid tank.
So whats the best plec suited to living with these fish? we've being informed Royal Plec, any other surgestions?
Si
I have the same question, and I already have my cichlid tank cycled and populated. It's a 40g tank, and I need a plec that will grow to a max of 12cm or so.
Actually I did a stupid thing before buying the cichlids - I bought 3 bristlenoses and put them in for a few weeks. One died within a week for unknown reasons, and the other two were happy until I put some cichlids in. Then they just disappeared.
Now they could have been eaten (they were young, no more than 3cm long) or they could have just died for other reasons. There is no evidence remaining, though I suppose the cichlids could have eaten that. The mbuna are not terribly big either though - the biggest being around 8cm.
I want two plecs of some kind, but not sure which. LisaLQ's comment worries me a bit, though many other people say that the higher pH is tolerable provided it's stable. It is very stable in my tank.
Other people think that my BNs are probably OK, just hiding very well in amongst all the rocks I have.
Comments anyone? Suggestions for a plec that could co-habit with my mbuna for both Oscar07 and me?
Thanks,
Irf.
