We have now lost another honey gourami. An hour ago all four were swimming around and there were no signs that anything in the tank was feeding - and yet just looked in the tank and only 3 honeys left. This morning the 4 were well and feeding from my hand with no problem. Jiggled all the plants, lifted bogwood up and even dismantled internal filter and nothing. Lid has been on all the time. I have seen fish pecking at a dying or dead fish in fish shops and there was nothing like that going on except we couldnt see our pair of common plecs or the 2 very small corydoras. please someone help - would it be the plecs should we take them back to the shop, should we take the honeys back to the shop as we have only 3 now and have lost 4 in a week with no sign.

Is the water quality satifactory... Is the temperature what it should be... ( around 24 - 26'C )

Is the water chemistry correct ( Gourami's are happiest in water with a Ph of 6.0 - 7.5 and a hardness of 4 - 15' dGH )...

This Gourami is harder to keep than many other similar species...but as long as you plant the tank with dence vegetation along the edges of the tank and supply the fish with swimming space in the centre of the aquarium, you shouldn't loose another Gourami.

Plec's can sometimes distress other smaller, more delicate fish... They swim fast and clumsily and can sometimes damage plants and even small fish.

This is what could have happened to your Cory's ( there are many other possibilities however ).

Plecs can get very large and need spacious tanks... If you own a small tank thn maybe you should give the Plecs back to the shop...

yes, all the parameters are fine - amonia o, nitrites o, and temp pH etc fine. All the other fish are doing well even the other types of gourami - dwarf, sunset and pearls. Planting is dense around edges with empty bit in middle. They appear very healthy about a couple of hours before they disappear and no bones, no bodies nothing is found.

Wow you have lost 4 in a week..its not nice is it. That happened to me, I lost 5 guppies in a week and its really upsetting.

I hope you can get it all sorted out
