i have a red capped oranda in a ten gallon tank. the tank has just finished cycling and now i want to move her into a bigger tank that has not been cycled. will it hurt her if i do that? ive been searching the web for days now trying to find any kind of information on this topic, but have failed. so if anyone could help me out with this that would be great.

immediate responses would be nice.

thank you.

Yes, but in the long run it would hurt her more to keep her in the small tank. Do a fishless cycle on the larger tank, then move her into it.

well, i had it running with water in it for about two weeks, then i bought a comet and he has been in there for about another two weeks.

Leaving a tank for two weeks isn't cycling. Look at the link in my signature for what a cycle is and how to do one. What you should do is leave the oranda in the ten gallon whilst you cycle the larger tank, then move him into the large tank when you've cycled it.

As Noah said, that isn't a proper cycle. I'd also like to add that the comet will eventually need 75 gallons as an adult and will bully the oranda.

I'd either return the comet or build a pond. Then do a fishless cycle on the bigger tank, as above this tank isn't cycled.

Comets grow far too big for your tank, they really need to be in a large pond.
I bought a couple 2 years ago that were about 1inch, now in my pond they're at least 6 inches if not more.
The oranda also needs to be in a much larger tank.
If you're willing to do large daily water changes, you could do a gush in cycle, but a fish less cycle is better
