hey, im new to the forum, i was giving a tank by my nans next door neighbour, only small, 2 foot long, 1 and half foot tall and the width is a foot. i have set it up and put a pleco in to build up the bacteria. i was hoping to breed fish, as i did with my koi. but i was wondering what would be easiest for me to start with? wat breed? ans could any one please tell me how much water my tank holds? thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forum. :hi:

Your tank is about 22 gallons. The pleco isn't a very good fish to cycle. Young ones are fairly delicate depending on the type. He will also outgrow your tank and they are huge waste producers (another reason they're not good for cycling). If you choose to keep him, make sure you test the water daily. Your ammonia will start to climb pretty quickly (nitrite will also a little later). You will need to do daily water changes to keep the ammonia and nitrite as close to 0 as possible.

I've never bred fish but I do know that some fish are much easier to breed than others. You will need to provide your tap water stats so someone else can help you. Also, you may want to PM a mod and have them move this to another subforum as this one isn't frequented by a lot of people so you aren't likely to get ot of replys.

hiya and welcome, not sure what your level of knowledge/experience is but just incase you don't know all this stuff you should have a read of this thread about cycling. sorry if you already know it.

if you just want something easy to brred then livebearers like mollys, guppies, platys are a sure fire thing. however if you want a slightly more challenging but rewarding breeding project maybe something like apistogramma's would work in that size tank.
