Please help, 3 days ago my rams where having trouble swimming I thought they had swim bladder but by the time I got home with treatment one of the rams fins was shredded, I have done a water change and added fin rot treatment today but most of my fish are not very slow, my large and small plec are not normal at all, it's like they are all unable to move properly. My filter bust and was replaced 8 days ago, regular water changes with declorinator where done. Please can anybody help I don't want to lose all my fish, can the medication make them lethargic.

did you transfer over all media to your new filter, what are you water readings?

Yeah all media was transferred, I am not sure of my water readings, no kit left, it is very odd as my sister has just had a very similar issues and lost 70% of her fish,. Could the water in our area have changed? I no it sounds silly but we have kept fish for a long time with never anything like thus b4. Her tank readings where all fine. I am going to read mine tomorrow.

you might be in a mini cycle, if in doubt do a huge water change untill you can test the water

I did a 40% water change 5 hours ago, then added the fin rot treatment, it's since then they seem slow and unwell, all my small fish are ok and moving about, but my bigger fish are struggling to even move properly, so frustrating as no visible signs of illness. Thanks for your advice,

Hi, water test all a little high, nothing that a water change shouldn't have fixed though? I have since done another and added more cycle life and what I hope is a better quality declorinator, places are a little more mobile thank goodness. We will see how it goes withe frequent changes, I really expected to have lost my whole tank by this morning. Wierdly though I have since found out my sisters friend has had the same problem and lost half of her fish the same as my sister!!! Very odd

I took it to pets at home to do they where useless and never told me, tried to make me buy ammonia treatment, I have done another water change all fish looking a lot healthier today and eating,
