Do we know the width of the FX5 at its widest point?

At the handles, 14". Wondering if tilting the filter would solve the issue?


Preloved, I think you got my drift. Does the stand literally just have one central cavity for a filter, or are there for example a cupboard either side of a central cavity? My idea relied on the latter, so literally just a few inches of pipe would double back inside the stand.

I thought i did. I have two cupboards either side of the centre (the aquarium is 7 foot long). But none the less, i couldnt have any of the filter showing from the front.


Hmm, would tilting be dangerous though, i dont fancy 800L on my lounge floor...
Are there any other filters people can recommend, that would be a tad shorter?

I just dont have it in me to, i would never forgive myself if it went wrong or weakened the cabinet!!

They are not as powerful as FX5s or have quite as much media capacity, but Eheim 2078s might just squueze in that stand. Mine is not easy to measure accurately right this minute, but ~20" total clearance height looks to be enough.

Hmm would you mind checking for me? It appears that the 2078s are also too tall. From research it looks like the biggest eheim i cam fit is a 2075... which is only rated for 600L aquariums with 1250 liters per hour... Not much better than the 2028 i currently have... May just have to run three of these or similar...

Hahaha, this tank takes up enough room, i think my wife may just chuck me out with it if i added another foot to it...

In all seriousness I would cut a recess into the bottom of one of the middle cabinets and sit an FX5 in it.

I just could not do it, hacking into the cabinet is not an option for me what so ever.

I may have to resort to running three individual filters so to get the required turnover.
I currently have a Eheim 2028 professional (1050 l/ph and rated for up to 600L aquarium).
I then may purchase two Eheim 2217 classic's (1000 l/ph and rated up to 600L aquarium).

Giving a combined turnover of just over 3000 l/ph. X3.75 Turnover on the 800 Litres.



I just want to get this beast up and running!
