i hope it is a hongi because it has mated with my male hongi and is now holding.

Looks like a stressed out Rusty to me

not stressed at all swimming around happy and she is holding so you think it could be a rusty
anyone else any ideas as if its a hybrid i will leave her in the main tank and not put her in one of my fry setups.
She also comes out in dark purple /blue virtical bars when been chased or fighting.

Why not? Most mbuna will crossbreed if there are non of its own kind in the tank.

Because they are a different species to most Mbuna...could be possible of course.

They are not always 'Lavender' most look like yours.

i have 3 of this mumba 1 is more dominant than the other 2
i bought 7 hongi red tops 4 months ago turned out 3 are males and 4 are females
one of the males has been showing alot of interest around the one i want i.d. on
this is why i hope its a hongi female.
