I have 3 pearl gourami, iv only had them a week.
Last couple of days iv noticed there gills and at the base of there front fins where very pink.
They have also been gasping for air but not constantly. Iv just checked them again (first time today) and now there gills and fins look even pinker, red even in small areas like blood spots. Looks sore
Thing is, these are the only symptoms.
They dont flash, fins aint clamped, they eat normally and act normally.
And my other fish seem fine.
Please help me. Does this sound like gill flukes?
If so what do I do? Will it spread?
Thank you for your time

Almost forgot to say....
Water is not the issue.ammonia and nitrite is 0 nitrate is 20 and ph is 7.8

Anybody?

They seem to be getting lathargic now and the redness is starting to show through the gill plate.
Im thinking possible gill disease? Not flukes
Altho there is still no rapid gill movment, they still eat really well, but they do gasp for air from time to time.
I have some maracyn two. Im thinkin about moving them to the QT tank and treating with this.

Please advise

Could you try and get a pic up? Sorry, not sure what to suggest tbh. Are you fairly sure they are sickening for something and that this isn't normal colouration? Most fish go off their food or have clamped fins or some other symptom. It certainly isn't gill flukes as they cause the fish to itch constantly.

I will try.

This is the thing. I dont know if it is just me bein paranoid! But they are very red and they do gasp for air every now n then but they are the only sympthoms.
There not swollen, they dont sit on the bottom and they definately havnt got clamped fins and they definately dont scratch.
I will try my best to get a pic up asap

Thank you for helping me with this. I do worry about them

Il have to take a pic and upload it tomorrow. Just tried to take one now but they are all hiding because i turned the light off bout an hour ago.
There all tucked in bed lol

Thanx

Well, I hope you can get a pic or two up; it would help so much, but I do know how hard it is to photograph fish! Don't forget that gouramis are labyrinth fish, so it is normal for them to take in air from the water surface.

Well i didnt put up a photo in the end as both symptoms seem to completely disappear over night which is great news.
There gills look 10 times healthier, there alot more active and they dont gasp for air half as much.
Im puttin it down to PH shock maybe? Perhaps the pet stores PH was drasticly different to mine? Just a guess.
Only thing i could put it down to.

Bad news is, the largest of the 3 Gouramis has become extremely agressive towards the other 2 overnight too.
He wouldnt leave them alone! Constantly chasing and nipping so unfortunately hes now in my QT tank awaiting to go back to the petstore this saturaday.

On the upside, when i take him back i will also be comin home with 4 corys

Thanks for your interest and help Fluttermoth
