Please Help

wow .....

u kept a male figher in a comunity tank with guppies???

what did the people at the fish shop tell you about male fighters?

i dont know why your fish are fighting but....

matchstickman47 : i have two male guppys with my male fighter and have done for well over 2 months now :) guess i got lucky...yet my fighter hates platys.....really odd lol

i used the aqausafe and the safe water on the same day and the stresszyme+ a week later. how would i sort out amonia spike? the move happend just under 2 weeks ago.

I'm not the most knowledgable to tell you to be honest, but in case no-one else responds

1) Try to get some active mature filter media from a friend or if that's not possible
2) I would do a daily water change, using 1 of the conditioners and ensuring the water temperature is exactly the same as your current tank. Maybe 30% initially then generally less per day until you get to 10% a day.

Also if you really don't want any more of your fish dying from it. Then you really need to monitor the ammonia, hence yuou really need a test kit. Otherwise you won't know if the ammonia has gone and stabilised and hence when you can cut down on the percentage of water changed and when you can stop doing the daily water changes.

all they said is dont put them with other male fighters and they will be fine

has anybody got a colour chart and i can test the water now

gonna look silly now the gold fish are 'Red-Blonde' Guppies and platy looking close at the tank i have some baby fish hiding along the back of the tank

I have a API freshwater master test kit. If you have the same then test it and let me know the colour. I'll give you the read-out as per my cards.

Basically yellow is NIL. Then it's green for any ammonia, the darker the worse it is, but any green isn't good.

i have the sera aqua-test will it be the same principle? green bad?

As an aside, if you do keep those 'tropical' Goldfish in there, I would drop the temperature from 26c to 24c. That should be OK for the other fish and your goldfish will be thankful for it. They'll also produce less waste as a result of the drop.

:good:

I don't know. Never used that kit before. Has any other reader???

What colour is the solution initially? I would imagine if it doesn't change color then ammonia is NIL. If it does then there's ammonia.

Why not take a sample to your LFS, they should be happy to test it for you. Maybe even have the colour charts for your particular test-kit.

hm, seems your inb abit of a mess, i would just to a 50% change today then a 25% change each day untill you can get a test kit. at least this way your giving your fish the best you can right?

on your test kit, can you test an post pictures of the colour your getting?

Well if it's changed colour then just start doing some daily water changes. I suggested 30%, someone else suggested 50%.

Just make sure it's conditioned and the same temp as your tank, to reduce the stress on your fish and your bacteria.

No chance of getting some mature filter media from a local friend?

Anyway sorry but i'm off to bed now. I hope there's someone else online if you need any further help. Good Luck!
