hi everybody im new to the site today. as as the title says my fish are dying

ok so the set up has been going for about 6 months now but had new water last week. i added safe water - stress zyme+ - and aquasafe. i got 4 new fish and 2 shrimp but 2 of the fish have just died no white spots. i think it might be the water but i do not have a colour chart for my sera aqua-test does any body have one? any advice would be great dont want any more dying. by the way the 2 fish what died are 1 molly and a simese fighter (male)

the excisting fish seem fine.

thank you

:hi:

Could you please give us a bit more detail like

tank size, temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, fish you have in it

also, what do you mean by new water? did you just do a water change?
in the "New to the Hobby" section, there's alot of useful info in pinned topics regarding new tank syndrome and how to maintain a fish tank.

tank size is 125 litres temp is 26 degrees. i cant do ammonia ect as i have no colour chart for the test i think ammonia is the problem.

i have 4 zebra dannios. 10 neons. 8 tetra neons. 1 molly. 2 cat fish. 2 rainbow sharks. 2 shrimp and 5 gold fish.

it had new water we moved house only had about 10% of water from old tank which the fish was transported in.

thank you sorry im new to tropical fish

i think you have a few problems here
i think the tank is too small for 1 rainbow shark let alone 2, i had 1 in a 100 lt tank and discovered i had problems so i moved it to the 200lt where it was much happier.
also i wouldnt put goldfish in a tropical set up as they are cold water fish
when you say you moved house and had new water what was happening to the filter ? how long was the filter not running for ect?

can you bring a water sample to a pet store and ahve them test it?

also, when you moved, did you keep all your filter media in a bag with tank water?
did you readapt the fish to the new water, same you would do when purchasing new fish?

lastly, not that it is your concern right now but that tank is overstocked.

this tank without the others is too small for goldfish ... and this may seem like a stupid question but how strong is your filtration... golfish are messy

rainbow sharks shouldnt realy be kept in pairs... they get agressive towards eachother when older
i dont know what you ean by 10 neons and 8 tetra neons ??? do you have 18 neon tetras ??? and what are the catfish ... could b a cory or a red tail cat for all i no??
my advice ...

give back the golfish .. (or put them in a pond)
give back or rehome rainbow sharks
do a 50 percent water change

they are tropical gold fish not cold water ones just dont know the name for them.

are they fancy goldfish ???

they still shouldnt be mixed and will get too big for that tank ... general rule is

20 gals for one goldfish and add te gallons for each after that
so 3 goldfish would be 40 gallons

they are fancy with the flowing tails but they are small

they are going to grow

sorry but you are over stocked ...

that the main problem ... other wise it could be an internal disease... which fish are dying? and have you noticed any behaviour changes ie not eating, swimming at the surface, breathing rapidly?

my simase fighter and a guppy died. never saw the guppy die but the fighter was lying on the bottom of the tank looked like it was gaspin for breath made one try at gettin up the died. just lookes like it couldent breath.

I've never heard of Tropical Goldfish. Who told you there were tropical?

Anyway I would think your main problem is when you moved and kept 10% of the water. It's likely most of the bacteria didn't survive the move and hence when you re-setup your tank it was effectively an uncycled tank.

How long ago was it that you moved? Initially it would be fine, but you might be on an ammonia spike now.

Also you mentioned you used 2 water conditioners. Did you use them together? Or different ones on different water change occasions?
