I came across the lookdown catfish in my own search, do you think there is a resemblance here (I cannot find a good link, try googling it)

Hi there,

Don't think it's the 'lookdown catfish', from the pictures I've seen the 'lookdown' cat has a dorsal fin, in the pictures of yours, there's no sign of the dorsal fin, so my first choice still looks best.

I've no personal experience with these types of cats so hopefully someone else on the forum will be able to confirm this.

Can you confirm that the dorsal fin is absent from your fish, also how many pairs of barbels (whiskers) does your fish have???

My Catfish has the smallest dorsal fin I've seen on a fish (you can see it barely in the second picture). He has two barbels on his upper lip - like the blue sheatfish. I think you are right on this I.D.

I say it is the blue sheatfish, definately not a lookdown cat because there is not too much resemblence in them, from the pics that I saw anyways
