Will play sand work ok??? Thats what I bought because i heard somebody mention in another post that you can usse it.

Second question, I bought a test kit for $27.99 is this to much to pay. It tests for... PH, High Range PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate. Combines 700 Tests worth of stuff when all combined. Is this the right kit?

I saw the same this on there website for like $14.99, please let me know as i do now want to pay to much.

i just dont know if i am better of buying each one indivisually as i need 'em cause i dont think i even need the high range PH

No experience of sand, I'm afraid, but I'm sure I've heard of other people using playsand.

The price for the test kit sounds about right; I bought mine for about 17 pounds sterling. Good value actually, as the reagents last forever.

any other opinions about th4e proce of my test kit?

Playsand is great, just make sure you wash it thouroughly as it does have quite a bit of dust. I have it in my 20 and 60 gal. The price for the test kit sounds about right as well. What brand is it? I remember paying about that for mine. Good luck on the set up. What do you plan on stocking it with?

Hi dreworz5 :)

IMHO, play sand is one of the best, and probably the least expensive substrate you can buy. It sells for less than $3 a 50 pound bag at Home Depot or other home improvement store. Since it is safe for the delicate skin of toddlers, it's fine for all fish including bottom dwellers.

It does have silt, which can take longer to rinse out than some of the other kinds of substrate available, but I think it's well worth the effort. :D

It is a FRESHWATER MASTER TEST KIT

I was also wondering wether most fish prefer Hard Water or soft?? I am not sure I hope Hard since my tap water is hard.

I plan on stocking with Zebra Danios, Cories, Then I am still making up my mind wether I should go with Tiger Barbs, Neon Teras, Or Glass fish(although I probably wont, not with this tank anyways, since they prefer Brakish water. I am relatively new with this hobby, but i do have some distant expreince from years ago, which is why I am as good as new at this.

Difficult to answer that one. It depends on what fish you plan to keep. However I can tell you that I have incredibly hard water (pH, gH as well as kH levels are very high) and my community fish are all happy and thriving over the years. Most fish will adapt to the water they are provided with - but none take to drastic changes well.

The only fish I've struggled to keep (and won't keep in my water as it is), are neons & Rams. a heck of a lot more.

Edit: I see you've just added the fish you plan to keep. If your ph, gh & kh is very high (mine are tap 8.2 / 17 & 12) I wouldn't keep them.
I guess it also depends on what type of cory you plan to keep and the glass fish I'm really not sure about.

then what do you suggest?? I know zebra dianos are very hardy i would think they would be ok.
