Can someone please help me. I have ich in my tank and I was wondering what the best thing is to use to kill it. Someone told me "coppersafe" by Mardel. It doesn't stain anything, but it says you add it and it's good for a month. It's hard for me to believe you don't have to add something every day to kill ich. Will this stuff really work, or should I go with something like "Rid ich" that will stain but maybe is more effective. Please tell me what I should use that will get rid of the ich for sure.

first off - increase the temperature in the tank. This speeds up the ich lifecycle. You see, when ich appear as spots there's very little you can do until they are in their "free swiming" form.

what fish are in your tank? If you don't have plecos or catfish try adding aquarium salt. This combined with temperature increase can sometimes get rid of ich by itself.

I'd recommend treating the tank with whatever product you decide to use as well - just to be sure. I've never had to use ich products before but I'm sure other members can recommend something for you.

I've used Super Ich Plus, worked like a charm, BUT it will stain your water for the 3 or 4 days you use it. It also contains Malachite Green, which from what I heard you dont want to have to much contact with the stuff (rubber gloves, keep out of reach of children).

Be sure to raise your temp.

Yes, temp. up to 85 or so can do it and in addition use malachite green which is in quick cure and super ich. Coppersafe is a great killer for plants so if you have any, don't use it!
