I have recently introduced 6 parrots, (range of sizes) and 10 malawi cichlids. after 2 weeks of happiness now i have had 3 deaths, all malawi's. and the parrots keep lying on the bottom. i checked my parameters and my amonia was high so i performed a massive water change and the amonia is now 0. but still massive problems. they just want to sleep. i want to do everyhthing i can to help them pull through. i keep going near them with a stick to stimulate them to swim instead of lying on the bottom. what else can i do?

i have identified they also have ich. i have marine salt if needed. but i dont think this is the major cause as they dont yet have any breathing probs.

should i do more water changes? i think i have done over 60% so far?

Ok so if they have ich u want to get that cleared up quick because its spreads fasts.

Raise the temp to 30.
Remove black carbon.

And are you thinking of giving them a salt dip then just keep them in for a few minutes.

And im not sure if you should have parrots with malawi cichlids.
Since ones CA and ones African.
Whats the size of your tank?

4X2X2. are getting along fine. but i know they need diff ph's. i'm not so sure about the dip. is there not a systemic treatment thats better as in the past i have similar in a reef tank and the dip just seems temporary. as the parasites are always in the system ready to reinfect. they keep wanting to lye on there sides. when i disturb them they seem fine and they still ate. i know it seems strange but they seem tired. /??????

How many gallons is the tank.

Bad water quality will make fish lethagic, and also can cause death.

The whitespot meeds treating.
Once fish labour breath with whitespot it means the gills are infested. The fish dosn't make it once gills are affected.

i dont think the whitespot id the major issue. all my parameters are good now but still the fish are struggling. 300l tank

Whitespot can affect fish badly.
You need to get treating.

ok so i think i have gone through the worst. 5 deaths. i have done extensive water changes and added lots of salt. and things do seem better. my problem now is that my parrots are staying at the waters surface. its definately not o2 content as i have had my airstones on for 2 weeks full blast. i think it is a boyency issue since addition of salt. my salinity measured 2.5. is this way too high?
