Please Help Out Newbie With No Money

Ive had my tank for about 2 months now and i got done cycling it and doing the decor and everything. Then i decided to go with some plants because they make the tank look great and because its good for the fish. So far i only have one corkscrew and one amazon barb and neither is doing well. I found out my light is only 20 watts.

My question is, what can i do about lighing besides buying a new hood with better bulbs and wattage. Im only 16 and from what ive seen a new hood with enough watts will cost me almost $160. Does anyone know some place cheap where i can order them or if i can buy loose lighting or anything like that. Any help would be great.

I tried Ebay and came up with nothing, if anyone finds something on ebay please let me know.

Well i did a little more research and found out that because i dont have a Co2 system, i should have less than 2 watts per gallon.

So would this work

40 watts which would make my tank about 1.4 watts per gallon
