Please Help! Medication Emergency!

Hello again. More problems yippee

I bought a shoal of 8 rummy nose tetras a few days ago from a lfs i have been going to for years without any problems.

Unfortunately my quarantine tank is full with different fry so i had to put them into my main tank (15 gallon. Luckily there is only a small shoal of 6 harlequin rasbora in there. I introduced them all via drip method across 3-4 hours and they seemed fine.

They have been hiding in the plants ever since i got them and have only just come out today. There are all completely white with not red or checked tail pattern.

Ontop of that they all seem to have problems!
2 have white spot all over there fins

3 have clubbed gill (there balance is on and off good and bad, every few seconds there tails go in the air and within a few minutes they are on their back but then they revert back after a while)

3 are yellowish with arched backs

All 8 are lethargic and have pinched bellys and mostly sit on the substrate in the same place with the occasional fin flick.


HELP!!! What have they got wrong with them and what should i treat first?
Which is the most serious and will infect my other fish quicker?

P.S. I know the arched back and yellowish glow are signs of Fish TB but i have heard it really rare in the uk?

First, I'd do a huge water change. And I'm thinking the white spot should be treated first. Others may have a different opinion, and hopefully they'll chime in here.

It's too bad your quarantine tank was full, as this is exactly why we use them. So sorry you're having to go through this!

Thankyou for such a quicck reply. I intially thought the white spot first too. But even thought they aren't active out of all the fish the 2 with white spot are the most active whereas the others look half dead already. So not sure.

Tell me about it with the quarantine!! The ONE time I can't use the tank is the ONE time I get really sick fish!! Grrrrrrr

Cull them or return them to your store. In my opinion it is not worth fighting the myriad diseases they seem to have. Get some Jungle or Tetra LifeGuard and do the full 5 day treatment course to protect your other fish from what you have introduced into your tank. It sucks but lifeguard is your best bet as far as protecting your original fish. If you choose to keep and treat your new fish, I still suggest the lifeguard as it will treat pretty much everything. Melafix will also help slow the ich down while the meds have a chance to work.

Got up today and saw all my fish were ok. Been in and out of the room checking on them and in the last 1hour 2 of my 6 harlequins dead. They were perfectly healthy! I have tested water again and its still all fine. All the rummys are fine and looking better but I haven't started the treatment yet as I haven't been able to get it. Got 'Waterlife Sterazin Gill Flukes and Worms' and 'Interpet Anti white spot'. Planning on using the Gill Flukes one today but how long between treatments? How long after using that can I then treat for white spot?

The 2 harlequins were belly side up and arched inward? They had full colour even though they were dead but they had a yellowsh sheen to their backs.
Can't believe I have lost them out of all the fish they were absolutely fine earlier, seems to have happened very fast. Help?!
